Staying Safe During the Holidays! #Redthumb
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have studied the number of alcohol-related fatal accidents that happen each year, determining which holidays are the deadliest on the roads. While the holidays are certainly a time to celebrate, going too far when it comes to alcohol consumption can be a big mistake if you plan on getting behind the wheel to get yourself or your loved ones home.
A Hazy Holiday Season
Beginning with Thanksgiving and ending with New Year’s Eve, the holiday season can be a whirlwind of events that involve too much food and too much to drink. As a result, many people seem to lose their willpower or ability to say no to another treat or another alcoholic beverage. Combined with bad winter weather, driving while intoxicated can lead to tragedy. The percentage of fatalities due to drunk driving ranges from 36 to 42 percent during these three holidays, making it far from the most wonderful time of the year for those affected by deadly crashes.
Preventing Accidents
