Beauty Secrets That Every Woman in 40’s and 50’s Can Learn
Taking care of your beauty can get very demanding over years, particularly if you get tired of trying to tackle the perfect routine appropriate for your skin type. Many women actually think that makeup can solve all the problems – that is partially true, however, the most important thing is to take care of your skin on the inside. Here are some tips on how to do that in the best possible way.
1. Stop Smoking
This bad habit deprives your skin of oxygen and necessary nutrients, which is why some smokers appear pale, while some others develop uneven colouring. Besides that, it also causes premature ageing, since some chemicals found in tobacco smoke trigger the destruction of collagen. The consequences include deep wrinkles and sagging skin. Smoking also results in age spots, damaged teeth and gums, and stained fingers. Quitting will improve your appearance because better blood flow will provide more oxygen and nutrients to your skin, helping you develop healthier complexion.
2. Eat Healthy
Well-balanced diet and sufficient water intake can help the body to repair skin from the inside out, which is why changing the diet is the first step towards rejuvenated look. The antioxidants in colourful fruits and vegetables are essential, especially vitamin C which keeps your skin younger. Besides that, grapes and red wine contain another antioxidant called resveratrol, which helps you fight premature ageing in the best possible way. Omega-3 fatty acids in fatty fish are also highly beneficial in anti-ageing process.
3. Avoid Sunbathing and Tanning Salons
We cannot emphasise enough the importance of staying out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The sun rays are at their peak then, however, if you must be outside, remember that a protective hat, sunglasses, pants, and long-sleeved shirt are a must. Of course, sunscreen is crucial – use products with SPF 30 or higher, with both UVB and UVA protection. Sun can also cause premature ageing, which results in wrinkles and uneven skin tone, and long-term UV exposure leads to pigmentation, reduced skin elasticity and even degradation of skin texture.
4. Try Anti-Ageing Products
Ladies over age of 45 can enhance their natural beauty by rejuvenating their skin, and over-the-counter creams can be very convenient for such purpose. Anti-ageing creams are particularly important for women whose skin was heavily damaged by the sun in the first two decades of life, so they should start using them as soon as possible. We live in an age where there are products that can prevent, slow down, and even erase some features of the ageing skin, and the most important thing is to choose products that are appropriate to your type. However, it is good to know that women with dry skin can start using these products earlier than others.
5. Know About Skin Treatments
The fact that there are so many treatments and procedures, either invasive or non-invasive, makes it much easier for women in their 40s and 50s to keep flawless skin free of wrinkles. Chemical peel is very popular nowadays since it removes fine lines which are particularly visible around the mouth and eyes. Besides that, there is laser resurfacing which is targeted to smaller scars, sun-damaged skin, and wrinkles. Injections of Botox are a huge hit among the women all over the world, as well as mini face lift procedure. It is also known as meloplasty, and it’s less invasive than traditional techniques, leaving patients with a shorter scar.
As you can see, there are no shortcuts to keeping healthy and flawless look of your skin in your 40s and 50s – that requires a bit more effort, but it is definitely worth it. After all, skin is your largest organ which reflects how healthy you are on the inside. Treat it with respect because that is the least you can do for yourself.

Good tips! I think there are a lot of women in this age group who don’t know that these tips will help even with the information available to them and products that are pretty economical up for grabs. Drinking a lot of water I think helps, too.
Hi MB, there are so many ways to help with dry skin in winter and another is making sure our homes have some form of humidity, I like to diffuse citrus slices, cinnamon and cloves to fill the air with a sweet smell plus the air with much needed moisture. For me, it makes a difference.
