Is Matrixyl Safe?

Matrixyl has been hailed as a new anti-wrinkle miracle. Since its introduction, the question of whether Matrixyl and its newer version, Matrixyl 3000, are safe to use has been circulating. What Is Matrixyl? Matrixyl is a synthetic peptide consisting of five amino acids. Its active ingredient, palmitoyl- pentapeptide 3 works by helping the skin create collagen. Matrixyl is was developed as an alternative to Retinol to help fight wrinkles without the irritation that Retinol can cause. Collagen is naturally produced in the skin and Matrixyl simply helps boost that natural production. 

What Is Matrixyl 3000? Matrixyl 3000 is quite different from the original Matrixyl, and also much more powerful. While the original peptide is present, it also contains two new peptides, almitoyl tetrapeptide-7 and palmitoyl oligopeptide, making this compound even more potent. Together, the two peptides cause skin to produce not only collagen but also elastin- another important protein for skin rejuvenation. Like collagen, elastin contributes to skin’s ability to be supple and helps reverse wrinkles.

Is It Safe? As far as we know, both Matrixyl and Matrixyl 3000 are perfectly safe to use on skin. Humans have been consuming peptides in food such as fruit and meat for centuries.
