Health Series: How To Remove Eczema Scars

When I was a teen I had eczema on me feet so bad there was a summer I could not walk, fortunately unlike someone that has battled with eczema on other extremities I did not have scarring, but for those that did I am providing information on ways to help remove scarring.

How to remove eczema scars from legs?

Collagen is the best friend of anyone looking to remove blemishes from their skin. Eczema causes a lot of small and big scars at the sites. Many of us have lots of scarring on our legs from our youth when we could not control the urge to itch. The redness and tenderness of infected skin almost always give way to black marks and “permanent” scars.

These scars do not cause any irritation. However, many of us become conscious of the marks on our legs while on the beach. We know people who have given up wearing shorts and bikinis due to recurring scars on their legs from eczema. These marks are no less than battle scars for most, since treating eczema is a constant battle. Itching Caused By Eczema

Ways to get rid of eczema scars on legs

Even then, if you feel embarrassed by how your legs look in comparison to others, here are a few remedies you can try to get rid of the blemishes –

Collagen treatment

This is the most effective of all treatments. Have you checked the back of any anti-wrinkle or youth-restoring creams and serums? They always have lots of collagen. This protein binds your skin cells together, absorbs water and keeps your skin looking supple and young.

Collagen helps to treat wounds and heal scars exponentially faster. Be it acne, rashes or old eczema scars, if you can afford collagen treatments, the effect will show in less than a month. You can find creams and ointments for eczema that contain collagen.

Hydrocortisone

Hydrocortisone creams for eczema contain anti-inflammatory agents. Modern ointments have olive oil, omega-3-fatty acids and other agents that address the swelling and the scarring. Moisturizing agents keep your skin soft and prevent further scar formation. Next, the added collagen content helps your skin heal faster.

Bio-oil

Bio oil is popular for its scar-reducing abilities. It can soothe your skin and address the hyper-pigmentation at one go. It will also protect your skin from sweat, dust and other external pollutants by forming a thin film. Treating scars on legs is much easier since you can easily apply bio-oil 3-4 times a day, without any fear of breaking out! Although it is a bit expensive, it is very useful in treating eczema scars.

Yogurt

Applying yogurt directly to your scars may burn a little if the scars are fresh. Alternatively, you can consume homemade yogurt on a regular basis. If your newborn or infant has eczema, giving them a cup of yogurt each day will help them too.

Turmeric

Turmeric is excellent for getting rid of blemishes. You can grind turmeric or use one tablespoon of turmeric and mix it with full-fat milk until it forms a thick paste. Apply it on the affected areas and leave for 20 minutes. Wash off with cold water. You can also add olive oil or almond oil instead of milk.

Taking care of eczema-inflicted scars is difficult, but it is not impossible. Try using medicated moisturizers whenever you go out, use sunscreen and eat healthily! Stop Itchy
