What’s Going on in Edinburgh This Easter?
It doesn’t seem to matter what time of year you visit Edinburgh: there are always a variety of events, activities, and festivals going on. If you had plans on visiting Edinburgh during Easter, then you’re in for a real treat as there is no shortage of fun to choose from. Here’s a look at just a few of the top things you’ll want to check out this Easter in Edinburgh.
Musselburgh Racecourse Easter Saturday
Musselburgh Racecourse is the place to be on Easter Saturday, which gives racing enthusiasts a chance to take in some incredible action. This is the first time an Easter Saturday race will be taking place and the fixture has been approved by Her Majesty. It will be the debut of the Queen’s Cup worth £100,000.
There are a variety of racecourse ticket packages available and you can save money if you buy your tickets in advance.
Hot Cross Bun Fun Run
Taking place April 8 from 11am-4pm is the Hot Cross Bun Fun Run. This is a 5km run around Bowhill. Now, what makes this an Easter activity is the fact it has an Easter theme!
Dr Bunhead’s Eggcellent Eggslosions
This is a family-centred event taking place at the National Museum of Scotland from April 4-7. Here you can check out Dr Bunhead in person, along with a whole variety of crazy experiments with an Easter theme.
Easter Workshop
For those with a passion for crafts, the Easter Workshop at Doodles Ceramics on April 6 could be ideal. Here you’ll have a chance to décopatch an egg box or Easter basket, which can be used on Easter morning. The cost of the event is £12.50, which includes your supplies, a snack, and juice.
Easter On-board Britannia
Here’s a truly memorable Easter event that will take place April 1-3 on the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh. Kids will love the Corgi Treasure Hunt and the fact they will be awarded a badge for participating. There will be refreshments available in The Royal Deck Tea Room should you work up an appetite.
Easter Special Train Trips
What a fun way to enjoy the Easter season! The whole family can take part in the Easter Special Train Trips from April 14-17 at the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway. There is an Easter egg hung in the Museum and everyone will walk away with a free treat. As an added touch of fun, visitors are encouraged to show up in the best Easter bonnet: you may just win a prize!
