10 Natural Remedies That Boost Hair Growth

9 Natural Remedies That Boost Hair Growth

If your hair doesn’t feel as long or as thick as it should be, you can take the matter into your own hands. Instead of waiting, why not utilize natural remedies for hair growth? While there are a lot of chemical products advertised for hair growth, there are also many natural options — many of which are likely in your home right now.

1) Castor Oil

Don’t let the name fool you. Castor oil is not the same product used for vehicles. One of the best things about castor oil is that it can get rid of scalp infections responsible for ruining hair growth. After all, it is an antifungal and antibacterial product.

Likewise, castor oil has various nutrients such as vitamin E, protein, and omega-6 fatty acids to improve the moisture retention of your hair. All you have to do is to use castor oil for your next hot oil treatment. Simply apply the castor oil around by giving your scalp a good massage.

Make sure that the oil reaches even the farthest strands of your hair. This will let your scalp get all the nutrients from the castor oil. Afterward, gather up all your hair and use a shower cap to cover them. You also have to blow-dry your hair for about 15 minutes. If you want, you can even go and apply shampoo and conditioner after the castor oil treatment.

2) Fenugreek Seeds

These seeds are easy to find in almost any part of the world. In fact, many places in South Asia use Fenugreek seeds and leaves as part of their meals. But here, you can actually use it to not only encourage hair growth but also to remove dandruff.

First, you should get three tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and put them in a container with water. Let them soak for 10 hours before grinding them to have a fenugreek paste. Next, add two teaspoons of coconut milk with the paste.

Finally, massage the fenugreek paste onto your hair. Let it stay for half an hour before you wash it away with lukewarm water. Do this once a week for optimal results. You can even use the water where you soaked the seeds for rinsing your hair.

3) Aloe Vera

This one is no surprise. Aloe vera is a favorite natural product with many benefits to the body. It provides a lot of moisture and it can adjust the pH level of your scalp to achieve good hair growth. First, you have to get the gel from two aloe vera leaves.

Next, get this aloe vera extract and apply it onto your scalp. Let the aloe vera stay for 30 minutes. After this, rinse it off using lukewarm water. Similar to fenugreek seeds, you can have decent results in terms of hair growth if you do this weekly.

4) Avocado

Like the other natural remedies here, avocado is known to add moisture. It even has vitamin E to improve the health of your hair shaft. To use avocado for your hair, you have to mash an avocado and a banana.

Second, you must mix these two fruits and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Apply it onto your hair and let it stay for 30 minutes. Lastly, rinse out the avocado mix and use shampoo on your hair.

5) Flaxseeds

Similar to castor oil, flaxseeds contain protein that helps your hair become thicker through natural means. Some people use flaxseed oil to massage their hair while others eat the seeds they have ground to get the nutrients. This is a particularly good natural remedy for those with curly hair.

Another way is to put a quarter of a cup of the seeds in water for a night. Once morning arrives, you have to boil the seeds. The water should be equal to two cups and you must stir it from time to time. Once the flaxseeds look thick and jelly-like, you can take them out with a strainer. Let the flaxseed gel cool down and add a couple of drops of essential oil. Finally, just use it like you would with any hair gel.

6) Onion Juice

Yes, this will have a relatively strong smell. However, the onion smell will be removed as soon as you rinse it off. Not many people know of this, but onion juice is a good choice because it has sulfur. This chemical element helps in creating collagen and improving hair growth.

You must cut an onion into several slices and use a grater or masher to extract the juice. Next, apply the onion juice onto your scalp. Let it stay for 15 minutes before you rinse it away and use shampoo.

7) Green Tea

Green tea is a nice drink to have after a stressful day. However, don’t throw away the bags yet. After all, it has antioxidants that are good for hair loss. Extract some of the warm green tea remaining from the tea bags and place them onto your scalp. Wait for about an hour before you rinse your hair with cool water.

8) Egg Yolk

Just like onion juice, eggs have sulfur that can be a good solution against dandruff. Also, they have lecithin and protein to help your hair strands growth and recover. In order to have an egg yolk mask, you must mix two tablespoons of olive oil with a couple of eggs.

If you want, you could mix in half a cup of water to make the mix less sticky. Next, put the mask on your dry hair and let it stay there for half an hour. Finally, rinse it off and use shampoo and conditioner.
