To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. – Buddha
Being healthy is the prerequisite not only for normal functioning, but for happiness as well. An organism that is not functioning properly cannot produce enough energy for all of the daily challenges, which affects your overall success in career and life in general, and that can become a never-ending circle. Luckily, the solution is within your power, and although your body and mind will not straighten themselves up, if you make some changes it is quite possible to preserve or regain your health. Here, let us show you the way.
Change Your Diet
How we eat is what can influence our health and energy levels the most. First, you must get rid of poor eating habits, meaning that you should ditch the processed food, hamburgers and other fast food specialties, refined sugars, saturated fats and carbonated drinks.
Consider implementing new things in your diet, like the revolutionary microgreens, which are actually very nutritious (do not judge a ‘green’ size). These are basically greens, such as lettuce, spinach and cabbage that have been harvested in the early growth stage and surprisingly, they are packed with nutrients like vitamins and antioxidants, in some cases even more than their mature counterparts. Other ingredients you should include in your diet are vegetables, fiber-rich foods, whole, unprocessed, seasonal foods, etc.
Get Moving
Physical activity is the key of good health, and although we all think that the best cure for fatigue is resting in most of the cases it is moving. For adults, it is recommended to take 150 minutes per week for aerobic activities to maintain their health, while the strength exercises are done optionally.
You can double those benefits if you decide to engage in those physical activities outside, to absorb all the positive energy from the nature and breathe in fresh and clean air. Choose whatever kind of exercising suits you, everything from cycling to dancing has its own perks.
De-Stress
Stress is one of the worst enemies of good health and it is the number one silent killer around the globe, so do not underestimate this modern-day hazard. Instead, find ways to cope with stress, by starting an interesting hobby, listening to music, reading a book, etc. Meditation, deep breathing and yoga are some of the best ways to discover your inner peace and establish the mind-body balance.
Of course practicing yoga is no joke, and it would be best that before you begin consult an instructor with yoga certification to get a clear picture about what and how you should to in order to achieve your goals with yoga.
Hydrate
Water is actually the source of life and it makes up to 70 percent of a human body. The average recommended amount of water per day is 8 glasses, but you should keep in mind that if you are engaging in vigorous aerobic activities, changing climate or suffer some virus or disease, that you should increase that amount in order to avoid dehydration, which is the main cause of fatigue.
Although there are many mentions about alternative sources of hydration (cucumber with a large percent of water, soups, etc.), there is no actual replacement for a glass of water. Of course, that does not mean that you cannot add a bowl of soup or a cup of tea to your 8 glasses of water each day.
Get Some Sleep
Sleep is essential for normal function. In fact, sleep deprivation is so severe that it is marked by Amnesty International as a form of torture. Just one day without sleep can significantly impact your ability to think logically, your eye-hand coordination, focus, mood, etc. Depending on your needs you should get 6 to 10 hours of sleep. If you have any trouble sleeping, try yoga or meditation. Also create a tech-free sleep-friendly bedroom and read a book instead of watching TV.
Now just follow the road signs and do not get lured by the sidetracks. Good luck.
